Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen 2009

Georgia Frazier - Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen 2009

Tulsa teenager Georgia Frazier's hard work paid off when she was crowned Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen 2009 in June, earning cash scholarships, a one-year tuition waiver to Oklahoma City University, and a chance to compete at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant held in Orlando, Florida.

The daughter of George and Kay Frazier, she will be a senior Jenks High School in the Fall. She is involved in numerous school and community activities including Thespians Club, Advance Placement classes, mentoring programs, show choir, French Club, and All-State Drama. She has performed in several Tulsa area musicals including King & I, and Oliver!. Georgia is a true triple threat - an accomplished dancer, singer, and actor.

Georgia began her "Mentoring Works! Be Thumb-Body" program several years ago, based on the idea that each person is unique, just like their thumbprint. Georgia believes that being unique should be celebrated and should be a source of strength in the face of peer pressure or other adversity. Georgia says the benefits of the Thumb-Body program are not just for those being mentored but that "this organization creates an amazing opportunity for mentors to speak out and share a powerful message."

With the Miss America Outstanding Teen Pageant taking place in Orlando in mid-August, Georgia summer will be packed with public speaking opportunities, wardrobe fittings, and much more. Georgia is excited to travel to the national pageant and is eager to bring back Oklahoma first Teen crown, especially with the history of success Oklahoma has had at the Miss America Pageant.

The Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant is held in conjunction with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant each June at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center and features talented, intelligent, and beautiful contestants from across the state. In its seventh year, Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant awarded over $12,000 in scholarships, and $108,750 in tuition waivers were awarded to the 28 Teen contestants. Many girls go on to compete at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant, with nine of this year's Miss contestants having previously competed in the Teen pageant. Past winners include Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson, who was the Teen pageant winner in 2004.
